A Trak Racer profile rig can feel rock solid or slightly “alive” depending on how you assemble it. The same is true for any aluminium cockpit: profile rigs are systems, and systems depend on correct assembly.

This guide gives you a practical build workflow that works for Trak Racer rigs (TR80, TR120, TR160) and for SIMGASM rigs as well. If you build it right, you will get more detail from your wheelbase and more consistency from your pedals.

Tools and prep that save headaches

  • A good set of hex keys or a torque wrench with hex bits
  • A small square (or two) to check 90° corners
  • Blue threadlocker for bolts that like to loosen (use sparingly)
  • A marker pen to mark “checked” bolts

The build order that keeps the frame square

Step 1: build the base loose

Assemble the base rectangle but keep bolts slightly loose so the frame can “settle” into square. If you fully tighten too early, you can lock in twist.

Step 2: square the base before you add height

Measure diagonals corner-to-corner. When the diagonal measurements match, the base is square. This one step prevents 80% of long-term wobble issues.

Step 3: add uprights and cross members, then tighten in stages

Tighten bolts in a cross pattern (like wheel nuts): partial tighten, check alignment, then final tighten. This reduces the chance of pulling the rig out of square.

Wheel mount and pedal area: where stiffness is won or lost

  • Wheel mount: align it carefully and tighten evenly. A slightly skewed mount can feel like “flex”.
  • Pedal deck: ensure all contact points are tight and supported. Under braking, small gaps turn into movement.

Re-torque schedule: the secret to long-term stability

After the first 3–5 sessions, re-check key bolts. Aluminium profile systems can “bed in” and loosen slightly. After that, check monthly or whenever you change hardware.

Build it clean from day one

Trak Racer builds often use clips and sleeves for cables. That works, but the cleanest approach is to plan routes early. SIMGASM Sport and Pro rigs are designed with internal routing and multiple pass-through points, making it easier to run power and USB cleanly through the chassis.
