Not every gaming monitor is a good sim racing monitor. Refresh rate figures, resolution, and panel technology names tell part of the story. What they do not tell you is how a display actually behaves when you are two laps into a qualifying run, braking late into a high-speed corner, tracking a car through your peripheral vision, and processing everything your eyes send you in real time.
Every monitor in this collection has been evaluated by SIMGASM sim racers with exactly that context in mind. We do not list screens because they have impressive specifications on paper. We list them because they work on track.
What that selection process actually looks at
Refresh rate is the starting point, not the finish line. A minimum of 144Hz is the floor for any monitor we would consider for sim racing use. Below that threshold, fast steering inputs and high-speed straights produce motion that the display cannot keep up with, creating a disconnect between your hands and what you see that no amount of force feedback calibration will compensate for. Most screens in this collection run at 180Hz, 200Hz, or above.
Response time determines whether the refresh rate number is real in practice. A 200Hz panel with a slow pixel response time produces ghosting that undermines the benefit of the high refresh rate. We look at real-world motion performance, not just the headline MPRT figure.
Panel technology is evaluated for the driving conditions it will be used in. Fast IPS panels deliver sharp, colour-accurate images with wide viewing angles that suit daytime racing and competitive multiplayer environments. VA panels deliver the contrast depth that makes night racing, wet weather, and tunnel sections visually convincing. Both have a place in a sim racing setup. Neither is universally better.
Resolution is assessed relative to screen size and GPU load. There is no benefit to running a resolution that your hardware cannot sustain at the refresh rate the panel is capable of. Our selection prioritises combinations of size, resolution, and refresh rate that work together as a practical sim racing configuration, not as a benchmark result.
Viewing angles matter more in sim racing than in most gaming contexts. A monitor used at close range in a fixed cockpit position needs to deliver consistent colour and contrast from the exact seated viewing angle of the driver, not just from directly in front. Panels that shift colour or lose contrast at even small angles from centre create an image that becomes unreliable at the edges of the screen where peripheral information lives.
Adaptive sync compatibility is evaluated across both NVIDIA and AMD ecosystems. Screen tearing in a sim racing environment is not just visually unpleasant. It actively disrupts the visual flow of information during the moments when that information is most critical. Every monitor we select supports adaptive sync in a form that works reliably across the GPU platforms our customers run.
A single high-refresh monitor remains the most accessible and most straightforward sim racing display configuration. Well-chosen, it delivers everything a driver needs to develop real skill and race competitively across every major sim title.
Ultrawide curved panels at 21:9 or 32:9 aspect ratios provide peripheral coverage without the complexity of a multi-monitor setup. A correctly chosen ultrawide replaces the need for side monitors in many configurations while requiring only a single display output and no bezel correction calibration.
Triple monitor setups remain the standard for drivers who want maximum peripheral vision and the most realistic replication of what a real racing driver sees through the windscreen. Every monitor we select for individual purchase is also evaluated for its suitability in a triple configuration, including bezel thickness, colour matching across units, and compatibility with SIMGASM monitor stands.

A monitor that moves during a session costs you information and concentration at the same moment. The physical stability of the display is as important as the panel quality behind it.
