Bass shakers (tactile) can be one of the best upgrades for immersion and feedback, but they can also become one of the most annoying if you mount them poorly. Rattles, buzzing panels, and “everything vibrates but nothing feels clear” usually come from the same causes: weak mounting points, loose bolts, and too many effects stacked on top of each other.
This guide focuses on the physical side: how to mount tactile on an aluminium profile rig so it feels strong and controlled.
Step 1: choose what you want to feel
Before you buy more hardware, decide the “channels” you want:
- Seat channel: engine vibration, rear traction, wheel slip
- Pedal channel: ABS, wheel lock, kerbs, road texture
- Chassis channel: big impacts, gear shift thumps (use sparingly)
Step 2: mount to a stiff part of the rig
Aluminium profile is great for tactile because it is stiff and repeatable. The key is to mount to a point that does not “ring” like a drum.
- Pedal area: mount on a strong deck or plate such as the universal peripheral deck and support your feet with the heel plate.
- Seat area: a bucket seat like the Atlas GT seat transmits tactile well. Use solid brackets: seat bracket set.
- Avoid the monitor stand: tactile on the screen structure often causes blur and noise.
Step 3: stop rattles before you tune SimHub
Do a quick mechanical check first:
- Re-torque bolts on the mounting point.
- Add washers where needed (metal on metal movement is what you hear).
- Route cables with strain relief so they do not buzz against profile edges.

Isolation: what to isolate and what not to isolate
- Isolate the rig from the floor if you live in an apartment or share a space.
- Do not isolate the shaker from the rig too much. Over isolation reduces feel and turns energy into noise.
Gain staging (why everything feels like mush)
Many tactile builds feel weak because the shaker is not the problem, the signal is. Keep it simple:
- Start with one effect (engine or kerb) and tune it until it feels right.
- Only then add a second effect.
- Keep the amplifier out of clipping; clipping becomes “buzz”.
