Automobilista 2 can feel incredibly alive on a good wheelbase. But it can also feel twitchy, oscillate on straights, or become “all vibration, no information” if your settings fight each other.
This guide is designed to give you a reliable baseline and then teach you how to tune AMS2 for your wheelbase and rig in a controlled way.
Start with the three “FFB truths”
- Rig stiffness affects feel. A soft mount turns detail into mush. If you run DD, start with a solid cockpit like SIMGASM Club simulator or move up to SIMGASM Sport simulator if you tweak often.
- Clipping hides information. If the wheel saturates, you lose grip detail.
- Too much damping hides mistakes. Damping is helpful, but heavy damping turns “tyre slip” into “nothing happened”.

How to eliminate oscillation without killing detail
Oscillation (wheel “wobble” on straights) is a tuning chain problem. Fix it in this order:
- Mechanical: confirm your wheel deck is tight and your rig doesn’t flex. If you need a stronger mounting solution, consider front wheel mount or bottom wheel mount.
- Wheelbase: add a small amount of damping/friction on the wheelbase side (better than adding “mushy” sim damping).
- In-game damping: increase slowly (5 points at a time). Stop when wobble is gone.
How to tune for different car types
- High downforce (formula/prototypes): lower gain, lower FX. These cars generate strong steering loads naturally.
- Vintage cars: a touch more FX can help communicate bumps and weight transfer.
- Road cars: avoid high LFB on DD; it can make the centre feel “springy”.
Moza wheelbases in AMS2
If you run Moza, keep the wheelbase “clean” and do most of your adjustment in-game:
- Set wheelbase max torque to 100% and control strength with AMS2 gain.
- Use low damping (6–10) and modest friction (3–5) as a starting point.
- If detail feels masked, reduce “road sensitivity” type settings before raising FX.
