The hardest part of adding motion isn’t the actuators. It’s the planning.

If you’re comparing Advanced SimRacing ASR Pro (often marketed as motion/haptics ready) with SIMGASM’s Sport and Pro, this guide is a practical checklist for building a motion-capable cockpit that stays clean, safe and easy to maintain.

Motion planning rule zero: monitors are a separate project

With motion, your cockpit moves. Your monitors don’t have to.

  • Monitors on the rig: possible, but harder to keep perfectly aligned and readable under vibration.
  • Monitors freestanding: simpler, safer, and usually the better experience.

ASR Pro: what it signals about intent

The motion-ready checklist

  1. Mounting points: confirm where actuators/haptics will attach and ensure your rig has clear, repeatable interfaces.
  2. Emergency stop placement: you should be able to hit the E-stop with your eyes closed. Don’t bury it behind a monitor.
  3. Cable strategy: motion needs slack and strain relief. Route through the rig (pass-throughs), then create service loops to moving parts.
