Which wheelbases and pedals need a SIMGASM Pro cockpit in 2026?

Which wheelbases and pedals need a SIMGASM Pro cockpit in 2026?

A SIMGASM Pro cockpit is the recommended choice for wheelbases above 40 Nm. It also makes sense from 26 Nm upwards when you add hydraulic or very firm load cell pedals, motion, a large accessory build or a combined race and flight setup. For wheelbases up to 26 Nm with normal pedals, a smaller SIMGASM model usually does the job.

That is the short answer. Below you see how torque, pedal force and add ons work together, with real examples from 2026 hardware. First, watch the Pro in purple in this short showcase without speech.

Which wheelbase torque needs a Pro?

Torque is the first number to check, because it decides how hard the wheel pulls on the frame.

The SIMGASM torque guideline

SIMGASM gives every cockpit a clear torque range. Hobby suits wheelbases up to 16 Nm. Club suits up to 26 Nm. From 26 Nm up to 40 Nm, SIMGASM recommends Sport or Pro. Above 40 Nm, the Pro sim racing cockpit is the recommended platform. Its 40 x 160 mm main profile and heavy duty steel reinforcement handle the forces of the strongest bases while the mounting and driving position stay consistent.

Examples of strong wheelbases in 2026

Many popular high end bases sit in the 20 to 32 Nm range. Think of the Simucube 2 Ultimate at 32 Nm, the Asetek Invicta at 27 Nm, or the MOZA R25 Ultra and Fanatec Podium DD2 at 25 Nm. With a 27 Nm or 32 Nm base, you are in Sport or Pro territory. With a 25 Nm base, Club still fits on paper, but you have little reserve left. New to these numbers? Our direct drive torque guide explains what Nm means in practice.

Which pedals need a Pro?

Pedals push on the frame from the other end, and firm pedals push very hard.

A load cell brake measures pressure instead of travel. High end sets such as the Simagic P1000 or Heusinkveld Sprint let you set a very firm brake, and hydraulic pedals go even further. Under full braking, your leg pushes the pedal plate away from you. On a weak frame the plate bends, and your brake point moves from lap to lap.

The Pro carries a rated braking load of 300 kg at the pedal deck. The Sport has the same rating, so for pedals alone both work. The Pro adds more reserve in the whole frame through the taller profile and the steel reinforcement. For the full story, read how much pedal braking force a sim racing cockpit needs.

What other hardware pushes you towards Pro?

Torque and pedals are not the whole picture, because every extra part adds load.

Motion, add ons and race plus flight

Motion platforms move the whole frame, so any flex in the frame becomes easier to feel. The Pro comes with native motion platform readiness and integrated cable routing in three zones: front, centre and rear. Add a sequential shifter, a handbrake, a button box, a keyboard and one or more screens, and the frame carries a lot more than a wheel. SIMGASM also confirms the Pro as its option for combined race and flight configurations, with the right mounts and layout. One chassis then replaces two separate frames.

Planning for motion?

Plan the space before you buy. The Pro measures 580 x 1320 x 750 mm, and a motion system adds height and needs free room around the frame. Our motion ready sim rig guide walks you through the checks.

Which wheel mount fits your base?

Torque capacity and physical fit are two separate checks, so do not skip this one.

The Pro offers four mounts. The bottom mount covers supported underside patterns from Logitech, Fanatec, MOZA, Thrustmaster, SIMAGIC, PXN, Simucube, Asetek and VRS. The front mount covers supported Fanatec, Simucube and VRS front patterns, and it does not fit SIMAGIC bases. The side mount covers supported Fanatec, MOZA and SIMAGIC models. The Asetek front mount is made for supported Asetek models. Always check the model table on the product page before you order.

Why trust this torque guideline?

The guideline comes from a team that tests complete simulators, not single parts.

SIMGASM founder Johan Akkerman has tested cockpits, wheelbases and pedals from across the market since 2008, and his own setup moved from Fanatec hardware and a Trak Racer TR8 to a Simucube 2 wheelbase. At SIMGASM he designs the full range himself, from 3D models to prototypes and final quality checks. Every product is tested as part of a complete simulator. SIMGASM B.V. is based in Wijk bij Duurstede in the Netherlands, and the Pro belongs to its patented cockpit design family. Still weighing the Pro against a lighter setup? Questions about wheelbases and the SIMGASM Pro

Here are short answers to the questions buyers ask most.

Do I need a Pro for a 32 Nm wheelbase?

SIMGASM recommends Sport or Pro from 26 Nm up to 40 Nm. Choose Pro when you also run heavy pedals, motion or many add ons.

Is the Pro suitable for a flight sim setup?

Yes. SIMGASM confirms the Pro for combined race and flight builds with the correct mounts and layout.

Does the Pro fit SIMAGIC wheelbases?

Yes, through the bottom mount or the side mount. The regular front mount does not fit SIMAGIC bases.

What comes in the box?

The aluminium profiles, chassis brackets, your chosen wheel mount, assembly tools, the Apex side profile shifter and handbrake arm, a heel rest and rubber feet. The seat, pedals and wheelbase are sold separately.
