Forza Horizon 6 Drift Attack: Unlock the Jaguar and Build Your Drift Setup

Forza Horizon 6 Drift Attack gives your next drifting session a clear goal: chase a better lap score and work towards the 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition. If you want to enjoy that challenge with a wheel, build around a comfortable seat, a stable cockpit and controls you can reach without looking away from the next corner.

Our recommended PC setup pairs the SIMGASM Sport sim racing cockpit with the Core Recline racing simulator seat, Shifter & Handbrake Mount with both plates and a MOZA R9 V3 wheelbase. Below, we explain the event and where each part earns its place in a drift simulator setup.

How to unlock Drift Attack in Forza Horizon 6

Drift Attack arrived on 7 September 2026. It is a permanent feature at Shimanoyama Circuit, unlocked by earning the Yellow Wristband. Follow the map icon and drive through the gantry to begin. Each run scores one lap, and you can keep circulating for further attempts. You can drive alone, with a Convoy or alongside other players. See the official Drift Attack introduction.

How to get the 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition

Earn Drift Attack completion in the Collection Journal to obtain the customised Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition. This in-game reward remains available at any time; it is separate from the standard XJ-S sold in the Autoshow. Open your Collection Journal for the requirements and your progress. The official Series 5 announcement confirms the unlock route.

Clipping Zones and a more repeatable drift lap

Drifting inside a Clipping Zone boosts the points earned there. Leaderboard entries also show drivetrain information, which helps you compare the cars behind the scores. These features are explained in the official mode overview.

Our advice is to learn a line you can repeat before adding power or chasing a more aggressive angle:

  1. Find the zones first. Use an early lap to identify their entries and exits. Choose a landmark for your approach so the next attempt is easier to compare.
  2. Keep one car and tune while learning. A manageable rear-wheel-drive build is a useful starting point for practising throttle and countersteer. It is a learning choice, not a claim that RWD always wins.
  3. Adjust the throttle progressively. Make small inputs and notice how the car reacts. Sudden corrections make it harder to understand what caused a spin or a straightened line.
  4. Work on one transition. If the same corner keeps breaking your rhythm, focus on the approach speed and steering timing there before changing the whole setup.
  5. Use the handbrake deliberately. Treat it as an input for an entry or correction, then release it. Holding it for longer is not automatically a better drift.

The SIMGASM cockpit and seat we would choose

The SIMGASM Sport in White is our choice for a dedicated drift build you can keep developing. Its 40 × 120 mm main profiles provide a substantial foundation, while integrated cable passthroughs help organise the extra connections from a wheelbase, pedals, handbrake and shifter. The chassis measures 580 × 1320 × 720 mm, so plan additional space around it for access and your display.

Pair it with the Core Recline Seat if you want to adjust the backrest angle for longer sessions. Set your seat position before placing the wheel and side controls: you should be able to turn, shift and pull the handbrake while keeping your back supported. Add the SIMGASM Dual-Locking Seat Slider Set for fore-and-aft adjustment.

For a lower-cost foundation, consider the SIMGASM Club. Its 40 × 80 mm main profiles and narrower 500 mm chassis width make it an appealing option when you would rather put more of the budget towards the wheel and pedals. Sport is our upgrade choice for its larger structure and cable routing, rather than a requirement for playing Drift Attack.

Give your handbrake and shifter a proper place

A sim racing handbrake is most useful when reaching for it feels natural. The SIMGASM Shifter & Handbrake Mount lets you create a dedicated control area beside the seat. Choose the Shifter and Handbrake plates option when fitting both devices. Club and Sport already include a side support arm; the mounting plates and the electronic controls are different parts of the build.

Our preferred pairing is the MOZA HBP Handbrake with either the MOZA HGP H-pattern shifter for a traditional gear-selection experience or the MOZA SGP sequential shifter for a push/pull layout. Position the controls so your forearm clears the wheel and your hand can return to it easily.

The MOZA HBP mounting and calibration guide takes you through the next steps after installation.

Which MOZA wheelbase should you choose for FH6 drifting?

MOZA option Why we would choose it Plan the complete build
R5 Bundle — 5.5 Nm A straightforward first direct-drive package for learning and casual drifting. Includes an ES wheel and two SR-P Lite pedals. A clutch, external shifter and handbrake are additional purchases.
R9 V3 — 9 Nm Our recommended balance for a dedicated drift setup with a round wheel. Wheelbase only. Add a compatible steering wheel and pedals.
R12 V2 — 12 Nm More torque available for drivers who also want stronger feedback in other racing disciplines. Wheelbase only. Choose your wheel and pedals separately; maximum force is not necessary for drifting.

For the R9 or R12, we would choose a round rim such as the MOZA CS V2P. Its continuous rim suits the repeated hand movements of countersteering. Set force feedback to a level you can manage smoothly, then tune it gradually.

These recommendations are for PC. MOZA confirms FH6 force feedback support across its wheelbases and explains the required first-time control mapping in its official FH6 setup guide. Check the exact wheelbase in the cockpit's compatibility selector and choose the appropriate mounting option. Physical mounting and game/platform support are separate checks.

Build your Drift Attack setup

Start with the Sport cockpit, add your Core Recline Seat, and complete the side controls with the combined shifter and handbrake plates. Then select your MOZA wheelbase, rim and pedals around the budget you want to spend.

The chassis is the foundation: the seat, slider, electronics and display are separate unless the selected product or bundle explicitly includes them. Open the linked product pages to check the current options and delivery information before completing your build.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Jaguar a real-car giveaway?

No. The 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition is a reward inside Forza Horizon 6, earned through Drift Attack completion in the Collection Journal.

Do I need a handbrake or a cockpit to unlock the Jaguar?

A dedicated sim setup is optional. Choose this hardware for the physical driving experience, comfortable positioning and accessible controls; it does not replace the in-game requirements.

Is a stronger wheelbase always better for drifting?

Choose feedback you can control and a complete setup that fits your budget. The R5 is a practical starting point, the R9 is our balanced recommendation and the R12 offers additional torque headroom.

Can I use the Core Bucket Seat instead?

Yes. Choose the Core Bucket Racing Seat if you prefer its fixed-back driving position. Its folding mechanism is for storage; choose Core Recline when adjustable backrest angle is the priority.
