SIMGASM rig setup for tall drivers: seating, pedal distance and monitor height

SIMGASM rig setup for tall drivers: seating, pedal distance and monitor height

If you are tall, many “standard” sim rigs feel cramped: knees too high, wheel too low, pedals too close, and monitors too low. The good news is that most comfort issues are solvable with correct geometry.

This guide gives you a setup process specifically for tall drivers. It is also useful if you share a rig with someone much shorter.

Start with the seat, not the wheel

Your seat position sets everything else. Get this right first:

  • Hip position: hips slightly lower than knees for GT-style comfort
  • Back angle: relaxed, not upright like a dining chair
  • Shoulders: supported, not floating forward

Pedal distance and knee angle

At full brake, your knee should still be slightly bent. If your leg locks out, you lose control and can strain your knee.

Common tall-driver fixes

  • Move pedals farther away rather than raising the seat too high
  • Adjust pedal angle so your ankle can rotate naturally
  • Increase distance between brake and throttle if your shoes clip

Wheel height and reach

With hands at roughly “9 and 3”, your elbows should be slightly bent and relaxed. If your elbows are straight, you will overwork shoulders and lose precision.

  • Raise the wheel so your thighs do not hit the rim
  • Bring the wheel closer rather than leaning forward
  • Keep your wrists neutral (avoid extreme wrist angles)

Monitor height for tall drivers

Many tall drivers place monitors too low because the rig was designed around average height. Aim for:

  • Eye line around the top third of the screen
  • Screen centered with your steering wheel
  • Consistent distance (helps FOV and depth perception)

If you run triples, a stable stand is even more important: small movements change your sightline and can cause neck strain.

Tip: if you are unsure which tier fits your hardware, start with Club for “works with almost anything” and jump to Sport or Pro if you plan motion, very high torque, or want maximum adjustability with a clean cable route.
