When people search for “triple monitor stand”, what they usually mean is: “How do I mount my monitors so they are aligned, stable, and easy to adjust?”

This guide focuses on the practical side: VESA patterns, spacing, alignment workflow, and choosing between integrated and freestanding monitor stands.

VESA patterns explained (75, 100 and 200)

VESA is the mounting standard on the back of your monitor. The most common patterns in sim racing are:

  • 75×75 mm (common on smaller monitors)
  • 100×100 mm (very common on 27–32" monitors)
  • 200×100 / 200×200 mm (less common, but seen on heavier displays)

Before buying a stand, check your monitor’s manual or the back of the panel for the VESA pattern. If your monitor uses a pattern that is not covered by your stand, you may need an adapter bracket.

Integrated vs freestanding monitor stands

Both can be excellent. Pick based on your long-term plan:

  • Integrated stands (mounted to the rig): clean, compact, easy to keep the footprint small.
  • Freestanding stands: monitors stay static if the rig moves (motion or heavy tactile), and alignment can be easier because the monitor frame is isolated.

If you plan to add motion later, a freestanding stand is often the safer long-term choice.

A practical triple alignment workflow

Use this order to avoid frustration:

  1. Set your seating position first: seat height, distance to wheel, and pedal reach.
  2. Place the centre monitor: centred to your wheel and eyes.
  3. Add the side monitors: rotate them so they face your eyes.
  4. Match heights: align the top edge first, then the bezel gap.
  5. Fine-tune angle: adjust until straight lines look continuous across screens.
  6. Only then set FOV and bezel correction.

How to prevent monitor shake

Monitor shake usually comes from one of two sources:

  • Rig vibration: strong wheelbases, stiff brakes or bass shakers transfer energy into the frame.
  • Stand flex: thin beams, weak joints, or uneven weight distribution.

Solutions:

  • Use a stiffer stand (or move to freestanding for motion/tactile).
  • Route cables so they do not pull the monitors out of alignment.
  • Make sure the monitor arms are tightened evenly after alignment.
