SimHub is one of the most useful tools in sim racing because it turns raw telemetry into information you can actually use: tyre temps, fuel, delta, flags, and even tactile effects. The downside is that it’s easy to add too much and end up distracted.
This guide helps you build a clean, readable SimHub setup that improves consistency instead of creating noise.
The three dashboard options (pick one)
- Phone or small screen dashboard: simple, cheap, always readable.
- On screen overlays: great for VR or when you want minimal hardware.
- Extra monitor: best for streaming or endurance, but only if it stays out of your main sightline.
What to show (the “less is more” list)
If you are a beginner, keep it minimal. These are the highest value items:
- Gear, speed, and RPM
- Delta (lap time comparison)
- Fuel remaining and fuel per lap
- Tyre temperatures and pressures (especially in ACC)
- Flags and pit limiter status
Where to mount your dashboard screen
A dashboard is only helpful if it is readable without moving your head.
- Above the center monitor: use a top mount like the top monitor stand.
- Fourth monitor option: if you run multi monitor telemetry, consider an integrated quad setup like the Core integrated quad monitor stand.
For a clean cockpit, pair this with a stable rig like the SIMGASM Club simulator or higher.
Overlay setup tips (especially useful in VR)
- Keep overlays near the top of your view, not in the center.
- Choose large fonts and high contrast.
- Avoid “full dashboards” that cover half your screen. Use small widgets.
SimHub + tactile (bonus)
If you use bass shakers, SimHub becomes even more powerful. The key is to keep effects separated (engine vs road vs kerbs) and avoid clipping your amplifier signal.
If you want a full tactile workflow, start with our tactile tuning guide below.
Make the rig workflow friendly
Telemetry setup often means alt-tabbing, changing profiles, and adjusting settings. Make access easy:
- Keyboard swivel mount for quick typing
- Mouse tray for menu navigation
- PC tray for USB hubs and clean routing
Three dashboard layouts that work
Use these as templates:
- Sprint racing layout (minimal): gear, delta, fuel remaining.
- Endurance layout: fuel per lap, tyre temps, pit limiter, stint timer.
- Learning layout: delta + brake/throttle traces so you can spot overdriving.
Connection checklist (avoid the “why is nothing showing” problem)
- ACC: enable telemetry output (UDP) in game, then select ACC in SimHub.
- iRacing: SimHub reads telemetry automatically once iRacing is running.
- Windows: run SimHub as admin if your overlays do not hook correctly.
Recommended SIMGASM gear
- Top monitor stand (clean dashboard placement)
- Core integrated quad monitor stand (dash + telemetry + streaming)
- SIMGASM Club simulator (stable base for accessories)
- Keyboard swivel mount
- Mouse tray
- PC tray (mount hubs and power)
