BeamNG.drive on PS5: October 19 Release and Your Sim Racing Setup

BeamNG.drive on PS5: October 19 Release and Your Sim Racing Setup

BeamNG.drive is coming to PlayStation 5 on 19 October 2026. The console edition launches in Early Access, opening its vehicle-physics sandbox to a new audience. BeamNG also expects the PC version's v0.40 update around the same date.

For drivers who enjoy exploring roads, testing different cars and finding out what happens when a corner goes wrong, this is an appealing addition to the PS5 library. If you are planning a wheel-and-pedal setup, it is also a good moment to choose a comfortable, stable driving position. Here is what the announcement means and where a SIMGASM sim racing cockpit fits into that plan.

BeamNG.drive PS5 release details

Detail Announced information
PS5 release date 19 October 2026
Development stage Early Access
PC update Version 0.40 expected around the PS5 release date
Local play The PlayStation Store lists 1–4 players and offline play
Mods on PS5 Not supported at launch
VR on PS5 Not supported at launch

Early Access means the game will continue to develop after release. The date is a starting point for the console version, rather than a promise that every PC feature will be available immediately.

Why BeamNG.drive is different from a circuit racing simulator

BeamNG.drive gives you room to experiment. You can explore open environments, try delivery scenarios, tackle time trials or change a vehicle's components and see how its behaviour changes. A quiet drive, an off-road climb and a deliberately ambitious jump can all belong to the same session.

Its defining feature is soft-body vehicle physics. Damage can affect the vehicle's structure and the way it behaves, making an impact part of the simulation itself. That creates a different kind of enjoyment from chasing a qualifying lap: you can spend as much time learning how a car responds as you do trying to reach the next destination.

For a home simulator, that variety makes an adjustable driving position useful. You want the pedals, steering wheel and seat arranged so that you can settle in comfortably, whether you are cruising or repeatedly practising a difficult section.

What is coming with the launch update?

The announced additions include a new vehicle and local split-screen play. The update information also lists FSR 3 support for the standard PS5 and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSSR, for PS5 Pro. These are image-upscaling technologies; their inclusion alone does not establish a particular resolution or frame rate.

The PlayStation Store's 1–4 player listing makes local sessions with friends one of the most interesting parts of the announcement. Treat that as local play: it does not, by itself, confirm online multiplayer or cross-platform sessions.

For PC owners, BeamNG's official wording places v0.40 around the PS5 launch date. Keep an eye on the final patch notes for the exact PC release timing and full feature list.

Mods and VR will not be available on PS5 at launch

BeamNG has explicitly confirmed that the PS5 version will launch without mod support or VR. The team aims to bring the platforms closer together where possible, but has not committed to a timetable or scope for those features.

If community-made vehicles, custom maps or VR are central to the way you want to play, factor that into your platform choice. For PS5, plan around the features confirmed for the console release.

Choose a SIMGASM cockpit around your hardware and space

A cockpit gives your seat, wheel and pedals a consistent place to live. Start with the hardware you want to use, the space you have and the seating position you find comfortable. Our first two options to compare for a home setup are Hobby and Club.

SIMGASM Hobby for a compact first rig

The SIMGASM Hobby cockpit in Black is a practical starting point when you are moving from a desk to a dedicated driving setup. Its 40 × 40 mm main profiles and 500 × 1270 mm chassis footprint keep the frame compact. Allow extra space for the seat, screen and getting in and out.

Choose Hobby when floor space and entry cost lead your decision. Select the wheel-mount option using the model-level compatibility information on the product page.

SIMGASM Club for regular driving sessions

The SIMGASM Club cockpit in Black uses deeper 40 × 80 mm main profiles and measures 500 × 1350 mm in width and length. We would put it on the shortlist if you spend several evenings a week in the simulator or want more structural reserve for a developing setup.

Club adds 80 mm to the chassis length compared with Hobby while keeping the same width. Our SIMGASM Hobby versus Club guide explains the differences in more detail.

Core Recline for an adjustable backrest

Pair either frame with the SIMGASM Core Recline Seat if you want to adjust the backrest angle. Set the seat position first, then bring the wheel and pedals into comfortable reach. You should be able to operate the pedals without stretching and turn the wheel without lifting your shoulders away from the backrest.

Seats, seat sliders and electronics are separate from the chassis unless the selected bundle explicitly includes them. Check the contents of your chosen configuration before completing the setup.

Check game support as well as physical mounting

A wheelbase fitting a cockpit is only one part of the decision. Its electronics must also support your platform and the game. Confirm BeamNG.drive PS5 support for the exact wheelbase, pedals and accessories you intend to use; mounting compatibility does not establish software compatibility.

Build your driving space for October and beyond

Start with the Hobby for a compact first cockpit, or compare the Club if regular use and future hardware upgrades are part of the plan. Add a seat that suits your preferred driving position and leave room to place the screen comfortably.
