Assetto Corsa Competizione has a very specific force feedback character: it’s heavy in the mid forces and can become harsh over kerbs if you push the wrong sliders.
This guide is a practical ACC tuning workflow for Simagic wheelbases. The goal is simple: keep detail, reduce fatigue, and avoid clipping.
Start with a clean base
Before you change settings, confirm:
- Your wheelbase is rigidly mounted (no deck flex).
- Your seating position is repeatable (wheel distance and height don’t change under load).
- You’ve done basic cable routing to avoid random disconnects. Cable routing matters more than you think.
ACC force feedback: the three sliders that matter most
- Gain: overall output. Too high = clipping and harsh kerbs.
- Minimum force: useful for gear-driven wheels, usually unnecessary on direct drive.
- Road effects: adds texture. Too high turns kerbs into a jackhammer.
If you only change one thing today, make it this: use the clipping workflow and set gain so the wheel never “flat tops” in heavy corners.
A stable Simagic baseline for ACC
Use these principles:
- Let ACC do the physics. Keep wheelbase filters moderate so you don’t “double filter”.
- Reduce harshness at the source. Lower road effects before you add heavy damping.
- Chase consistency, not drama. A calm wheel is faster in ACC.
How to tune in 10 minutes
- Pick one car and one track you know well (GT3 at a familiar circuit).
- Set gain low, drive 3 laps, then increase until you almost clip in the heaviest corners.
- If kerbs are too aggressive, lower road effects first.
- If the wheel oscillates on straights, reduce rotation speed slightly, then add a small damper.
- If the wheel feels vague, reduce smoothing and increase gain slightly (without clipping).
Rig stiffness: why ACC “punishes” flex
ACC’s forces can build quickly. If your cockpit twists even a little, you get an extra layer of movement that doesn’t belong to the car. That often feels like:
- inconsistent initial turn-in,
- weird mid-corner “float”,
- and harshness on kerbs that you can’t tune out.
