rFactor 2 is famous for its raw, physics-forward force feedback. That’s great — as long as you set it up correctly. A bad rF2 configuration can feel noisy, heavy, or inconsistent. A good configuration feels like a continuous conversation with the front tyres.

First: make sure your rig isn’t the weak link

rF2’s detail exposes flex. If your wheel mount moves, you’ll feel “mush” instead of tyre load. Start with a stable base like SIMGASM Club simulator, then build up if you run high torque or motion.

How to set the right force level (without guessing)

  1. Pick one track with a long high-load corner.
  2. Set global strength to a comfortable level.
  3. Use the car-specific multiplier to prevent clipping for each car.
  4. Save a note: “GT3 multiplier”, “Formula multiplier”, etc.

This approach makes rF2 feel consistent across different content.

Smoothing vs damping: what to use and when

  • Smoothing reduces high-frequency noise. Use small values (especially on DD).
  • Damping calms oscillation and adds stability. Use enough to stop wobble, not enough to hide slip.

Wheel rotation and soft lock

Pedals: the fastest way to improve in rF2

  • Harsh kerbs: reduce car-specific multiplier slightly; add tiny smoothing.
