You clean a SIMGASM Sport cockpit with a dry microfibre cloth, a soft brush and a little lukewarm water with one drop of mild soap. Wipe the touch points after long sessions, dust the aluminium profiles once a week and brush the slots once a month. Skip harsh cleaners and scouring pads, and the coloured finish stays sharp for years.
A clean rig is about more than looks. Dust in the slots, sweat on the wheel deck and grit under the rubber feet all change how your Sport feels and sounds over time. This guide shows a simple routine that takes about fifteen minutes.
Why should you clean an aluminium sim rig at all?
Aluminium does not rust like bare steel, yet it still collects dirt that changes how the rig feels.
Dust in the slots
The Sport uses a 40 × 120 mm main profile. That tall profile has deep T slots along every side. Dust, hair and small crumbs settle in those slots. Later, when you slide the seat, the pedal deck or the shifter arm to a new spot, that grit sits between the T nut and the profile. The result is a scratchy feel and, in the worst case, a small mark in the finish.
Sweat and skin oil
Your hands touch the wheel deck, the side profiles and the shifter arm in every session. Skin oil leaves a dull film on the finish, and you see it first on light colours like White and Silver. A quick wipe after a long race stops that film from building up.

What do you need to clean a SIMGASM Sport?
You need only a few cheap items, and most of them are already in your home.
The basic kit
Grab one dry microfibre cloth, one damp microfibre cloth and a soft paintbrush or clean makeup brush for the slots. Add a bowl of lukewarm water with one drop of mild dish soap. A small handheld vacuum helps for the floor under the pedal deck.
What to avoid
Leave out scouring pads, abrasive creams, acetone, brake cleaner and strong degreasers. These products dull a coloured finish fast. Also skip a pressure washer or a wet mop on the frame, because water in the slots and on your electronics is the last thing you want.
How do you clean the Sport step by step?
Follow this order and the whole job takes about fifteen minutes.
Step 1: power down and protect the electronics
Switch off the wheelbase, unplug the USB and power cables and take off the steering wheel. Your wheelbase, pedals and handbrake hold electronics, so you clean those parts with a dry cloth only. Never spray anything directly onto them.
Step 2: dust first, then wipe
Start at the top of the uprights and work down. Brush the slots first, so the dust falls to the floor and not onto parts you already cleaned. Then wipe every profile with the damp cloth and dry it straight away with the dry cloth. Drying stops water spots, which show up fast on the Black and JPS finishes.

Step 3: the floor and the rubber feet
The Sport ships with rubber feet. Lift one corner at a time, or slide the rig a little, and vacuum under the base. Grit under a foot acts like sandpaper on a wooden floor. It also makes the rig rock a tiny bit under hard braking.
Should you check the bolts while you clean?
Yes, because cleaning is the perfect moment to spot a loose part.
A quick touch check
While you wipe each corner, put a hex key on the main bolts and give a gentle turn. New joints settle during the first weeks of use, and SIMGASM advises a bolt check after the first week of driving. For an overview of every fixing, read which bolts and T nuts hold an aluminium sim racing rig together. A deeper routine against creaks lives in our sim rig maintenance guide.
Listen for new sounds
A clean rig is a quiet rig. When a click or creak shows up after cleaning, a bolt was most likely loose before. Tighten it in small steps and test again with a few hard brake presses.
How do you keep the seat and finish looking new?
The frame is only half of the cockpit, so the seat needs its own care.
Seat care
Seats use fabric, leather, suede or memory foam, and each material asks for its own method. Our guide on how to clean and care for a sim racing seat covers every type step by step.
Sun and placement
Strong sun through a window fades coloured parts and dries out seat covers over time. Place the rig out of direct sunlight, or close the curtains on bright days. A rig mat under the frame protects your floor and catches crumbs before they reach the slots.

Who designs and tests the Sport?
The Sport comes from a small Dutch team that races on its own product.
Built to last for years
Founder and product designer Johan Akkerman started sim racing in 2008 and once welded his first frame from used gas pipes. Today his own simulator is a SIMGASM Sport with a Formula Atlas seat, VR and motion. His view is simple: a simulator should perform, last for years and reflect the identity of the driver. That is why every SIMGASM product is tested as part of a complete simulator.

Quick answers about cleaning your Sport
Here are short answers to the questions owners ask most.
How often should you clean a SIMGASM Sport?
Wipe the touch points after long sessions, dust the frame once a week and brush the slots once a month.
Is window cleaner safe on the frame?
Use it only on a cloth and only now and then. Mild soap and water is the safer daily choice for a coloured finish.
Do the colours need different care?
No. Every colour gets the same gentle routine. Dark finishes show dust and water spots sooner, light finishes show skin oil sooner.
Should you oil the T slots?
No. The slots work best clean and dry. Oil attracts dust and turns into a sticky paste that makes adjustments harder.
