Compatibility should mean more than putting a brand logo on a product page. A wheelbase can share a brand name with another model and still use a different bolt pattern, housing width or connector position. A pedal set may physically bolt down but leave no room for adjustment. A mount can look correct in a render while blocking a power cable or the tool needed to tighten it.

SIMGASM treats compatibility as an engineering process. We check the exact model, variant and mounting method before we publish a fitment claim. Through direct relationships with hardware brands and distributors, that work can begin before some products reach the public market. Where partners can supply detailed CAD data, drawings, prototypes or pre-production hardware, we use those resources to evaluate fitment early and prepare the correct solution.

That is how we work toward a simple promise: when SIMGASM lists a product as compatible, the claim should be based on a real, model-specific check—not an assumption.

Why future-proof compatibility matters

A good aluminium-profile cockpit can outlast several generations of electronics. During that time, a driver may move from an entry-level wheelbase to a stronger direct-drive unit, change pedals, add a handbrake or convert a single-screen setup into triples.

The chassis should not become obsolete every time the hardware changes. Its mounting architecture needs enough adjustment and enough replaceable interfaces to absorb sensible upgrades. That principle shaped the SIMGASM Hobby, Club, Sport and Pro ranges from the beginning.

The base cockpit provides the stable structure. Wheel mounts, pedal supports, seat brackets, monitor solutions and peripheral plates create the interfaces around it. If a new device needs a different connection, updating one interface is better than replacing the complete simulator.

How we evaluate hardware before release

Early CAD data gives our product team a precise starting point. Depending on what a partner can share, a digital fitment review can include:

  • mounting-hole positions and bolt diameters;
  • wheelbase, pedal or peripheral dimensions;
  • shaft height and housing clearance;
  • access for cables, switches and emergency-stop connections;
  • space for fasteners, washers and installation tools;
  • the adjustment range after the hardware is installed; and
  • the load path from the device into the cockpit.

CAD is powerful, but it is not magic. Files can change before production, tolerances matter and cables do not always behave like perfect lines on a screen. That is why we distinguish between a preliminary digital fit check and a final compatibility confirmation. Where necessary, we compare later data revisions, test a prototype, use a production sample or verify the completed assembly before the model enters the live compatibility list.

Confidential partner data also remains confidential. We can prepare fitment without announcing unreleased products or publishing dimensions that a partner has not made public.

Four wheel-mount routes instead of one vague “universal” claim

Modern wheelbases do not all mount in the same way. SIMGASM therefore offers separate mounting architectures for bottom mounting, front mounting, side mounting and the Asetek front pattern.

That choice is deliberate. A broad platform is useful, but only when every customer still receives the correct interface. For example, the SIMGASM Front Wheelmount supports selected front-mount Fanatec, Simucube and VRS models. Supported SIMAGIC units use the SIMGASM Side Mount because their mounting geometry differs. The live model list—not the logo alone—is the source of truth.

The same approach applies to pedals, shifters, handbrakes, seats, displays and motion systems. We would rather create or specify the right variant than call a product universal when an important detail remains unverified.

What “maximum compatibility” means at SIMGASM

Maximum compatibility does not mean that every device ever produced will automatically fit every cockpit without an adapter. That would be an impossible promise.

It means we design for the widest practical upgrade path, verify exact fitment and respond when the market changes. If a worthwhile new product uses an interface that the current part cannot support, our modular construction lets us develop a revised plate, bracket, adapter or product variant without redesigning the complete cockpit.

We also maintain compatibility at product-and-variant level. A model can be added when it is verified, corrected if the manufacturer changes a specification and removed if later information shows that the fit is not reliable. Accuracy is more valuable than a long list.

Our goal is to update that ecosystem as quickly as responsible verification allows. Speed matters, but an untested same-day compatibility claim is not better service. The right sequence is: receive reliable data, check the geometry, resolve uncertainties, confirm the fit and then publish it.

What happens if a listed fit is not right?

If hardware listed as compatible does not install as described, contact SIMGASM before drilling, cutting or forcing any component. Send the exact product names, variants, photos of the mounting area and your order details.

Our team will compare the installation with the published fitment information and determine the appropriate solution. That may be corrected guidance, different hardware, the correct product variant, an adapter or another remedy under the applicable order and warranty terms.

This is the practical side of our compatibility promise: we do not leave the customer alone with a logo list and a box of parts.

Frequently asked questions

Does SIMGASM test products that have not been released yet?

Where a hardware partner can provide confidential CAD data, drawings, prototypes or pre-production samples, SIMGASM can start a fitment review before public release. Final public compatibility is only confirmed when the available evidence is sufficient.

Does compatible mean every model from that brand fits?

No. Compatibility is model- and variant-specific. Always use the live compatibility list on the exact SIMGASM product page.

What if a new wheelbase uses a different bolt pattern?

SIMGASM first checks whether an existing mount can support it safely. If not, the modular platform allows us to consider a revised plate, adapter, bracket or separate variant where technically and commercially practical.

Can SIMGASM mounts work on another brand of cockpit?

Some mounts and accessories are designed around a dimensional fit range and can work with other aluminium-profile cockpits. The receiving chassis width, profile layout and exact hardware model must still meet the published requirements.

Is CAD verification the same as a physical test?

No. CAD verification checks geometry and clearances digitally. Physical prototypes or production hardware can add confirmation for tolerances, assembly access and real installation. SIMGASM uses the level of verification appropriate to the claim.
