You launch Forza Horizon 6, the wheel turns… and then you hit the first corner and there’s no force feedback. Or it’s so weak that the car feels disconnected. This is one of the most searched FH6 problems during launch week, especially on PC.

The good news: in most cases, the fix is not “your wheel is broken”. It’s usually one of these:

• Outdated wheelbase firmware or drivers.
• A platform mode mismatch (PC mode vs Xbox mode vs compatibility mode).
• Steam input conflicts or a mapping issue.
• Force feedback direction or scaling set incorrectly.

Start here: the 60 second checklist

1. Restart your PC/console and power-cycle the wheelbase.
2. Update the wheelbase firmware and drivers.
3. Launch FH6 with only the wheel connected (disconnect extra controllers temporarily).
4. In FH6 Advanced Controls, verify Force feedback scale isn’t at 0 and toggle Invert Force Feedback if it feels backwards.

Step 1: confirm FH6 support and “partial support” situations

FH6 has a wide supported wheel list, but some models can have partial support while updates roll out. If your wheelbase is marked as partial support, you might have force feedback but missing buttons — or the other way around until the next patch.

Step 2: PC troubleshooting (Logitech, Thrustmaster, Fanatec, MOZA)

Logitech (G29, G920, G923, G Pro)

• Install/update Logitech G Hub.
• Try a different USB port (directly on the motherboard if possible).
• Lower FH6 Wheel damper and Center spring if the wheel feels heavy but “dead”.

Thrustmaster (T248, TX, T300, TS-XW, etc.)

• Install the latest Thrustmaster drivers and firmware.
• Check that the wheel is in the correct mode for your platform.
• If steering works but FFB is inverted, toggle Invert Force Feedback in FH6.

Fanatec (CSL DD, GT DD Pro, Podium)

• Update the Fanatec driver package and manually run firmware updates for base, wheel and pedals.
• If you use a wheelbase with multiple platform modes, confirm you’re in the correct mode before launching FH6.
• In the wheelbase settings, keep game effects (SPR/DPR) enabled so FH6 can send the correct forces.

MOZA (R3, R5, R9, R12 and higher)

• Open MOZA Pit House and confirm firmware is current.
• Set a sensible maximum torque in software, then control overall strength with FH6 Force feedback scale.
• If FFB is missing entirely, test another game quickly. If other sims have FFB, it’s likely an FH6 mapping/support issue rather than hardware failure.

Step 3: Steam-specific fixes (axis mapping and Steam Input)

If you’re on Steam and your inputs are mapped incorrectly, fix the mapping first — it can also break force feedback behavior. Follow:

Step 4: stop clipping and “fake heaviness”

Sometimes FH6 has force feedback, but it feels like one constant heavy force with no detail. This is usually clipping (FFB is saturating). Try this:

• Lower FH6 Force feedback scale by 10–15 points.
• Lower Center spring (too much spring can overpower dynamic tire forces).
• Lower Vibration scale to reduce constant rumble that masks detail.

Rig check: make sure your cockpit isn’t the issue

When the wheelbase is bolted to something that flexes, the wheel can feel “weak” because the force is moving the rig, not your hands. A rigid aluminium cockpit is the simplest way to make any FFB issue easier to diagnose.
