SIMGASM Hobby or Club: which aluminium cockpit fits you?

SIMGASM Hobby ou Club : quel cockpit en aluminium vous convient ?

SIMGASM Hobby ou Club : quel cockpit en aluminium vous convient ?

Choose the SIMGASM Hobby if you race occasionally, use a wheelbase up to 16 Nm and want the most compact frame. Choose the SIMGASM Club if you race often, use stiff load cell pedals or plan to upgrade beyond 16 Nm. The key difference is the main profile: Hobby uses 40 × 40 mm, Club uses 40 × 80 mm with a 200 kg braking rating instead of 150 kg.

Both are real aluminium profile cockpits from the same modular system. So this is not a choice between good and bad. It is a choice between compact and extra reserve. Here is how to decide.

What is the difference between Hobby and Club?

Hobby is the entry point of the SIMGASM range. It measures 500 × 1270 × 580 mm (W × L × H), has a 40 × 40 mm main profile and is rated for 150 kg at the pedal deck. It supports direct drive wheelbases up to and including 16 Nm.

Club sits one step higher. It measures 500 × 1350 × 620 mm, so it is 8 cm longer and 4 cm taller. Its 40 × 80 mm main profile is twice as deep, and the pedal deck is rated for 200 kg. You get a more planted feel and more room to grow, while the frame stays more compact than Sport.

What stays the same on both frames?

On both frames you choose the wheel mount that matches your wheelbase at checkout. Both get the standard SIMGASM warranty of 2 years. And both are available in solid colours and in race liveries.

When is Hobby the right choice?

Hobby is the right choice when space, weight and value matter most. It fits bedrooms, offices and shared gaming rooms. With a folding Core Bucket seat and caster wheels, it rolls away after a session. It is also the easier frame to carry upstairs or move when you change rooms.

Your hardware should match the rating. A 5 to 12 Nm direct drive wheelbase and a standard load cell pedal set fit the Hobby well. We explain the limits in detail in our article is a 40x40 sim racing cockpit strong enough in 2026.

When should you pick Club instead?

Pick Club when you race several times per week or join league races. More seat time means more hard braking, and the 200 kg rating gives the pedal deck more reserve. Club also makes sense if you plan a stronger wheelbase within a year, because a frame swap costs more than starting with the right frame. What about body size?

Both frames suit a wide range of drivers. Club is 8 cm longer overall, so measure your leg length and seat position if you are tall. Read which sim racing cockpit suits your height and weight before you order.

Who designed these frames?

Both frames come from the same designer. SIMGASM founder Johan Akkerman created the product concepts behind the Hobby, Club, Sport and Pro ranges. He has raced since 2008, won the 2019 Project CARS 2 world team championship and raced in real motorsport since 2022. His own simulator today is a SIMGASM Sport with a Formula Atlas seat.

His goal is simple: professional level equipment without a professional level budget. That explains why even the entry level Hobby uses real aluminium profiles and metal mounting components. SIMGASM is a Dutch company registered on 27 February 2026 and based in Wijk bij Duurstede. Customers rate the brand 4.97 out of 5 across 190 verified reviews.

Colours and liveries

Both frames come in colours such as Black, White, Purple, Red, Orange, Gold and Green, plus livery editions like JPS, MARINI and RothBros. Liveries are handled by Michal Nevrela, who has more than fifteen years of experience with professional print techniques. The colour does not change the strength, but it makes the rig feel like yours.

Frequently asked questions

Is Club much bigger than Hobby?

Not much. Both are 50 cm wide. Club is 8 cm longer and 4 cm taller than Hobby.

Can I move from Hobby to Club later?

Yes. Your seat, seat slider, wheelbase and pedals move over to the new frame, so you only replace the chassis.

Which frame is better for load cell pedals?

Both work. Hobby is rated for 150 kg at the pedal deck, Club for 200 kg. For very stiff brake settings, Club gives more reserve.

Do both frames include a seat?

No. Seats, seat sliders, wheelbases and pedals are sold separately for both frames.
