Which SIMGASM cockpit suits an Atlas seat in 2026?

Every SIMGASM aluminium cockpit takes an Atlas seat, so the right choice depends on your wheelbase, your pedals and your plans. The Hobby suits a first fixed rig with a belt or entry level direct drive base. The Club adds a 40 x 80 mm profile and a 200 kg rated braking load. The Sport and Pro are the best match when you run strong direct drive, load cell pedals or want to switch the Atlas between GT and Formula often.

In this guide we compare the four chassis tiers side by side and explain which one gets the most out of your Atlas seat in 2026.

Why does the cockpit matter for an Atlas seat?

A rigid seat only feels rigid when the frame under it stays still as well.

The seat and the chassis work as one

The Atlas seat range uses a fixed back shell that does not flex. Once mounted, the seat becomes a rigid extension of your cockpit. That only works when the chassis is strong enough for your wheelbase and your braking force. If the frame flexes, you feel it through the seat, no matter how good the seat is.

All SIMGASM cockpits are built from aluminium profile. The main profile size grows per tier. A bigger profile means less flex and more reserve for heavy hardware.

Side mounting on every tier

The Atlas mounts from the side with the SIMGASM seat bracket set, which was developed for the Atlas range and connects the seat to the aluminium profile of your frame. Every sim racing cockpit from SIMGASM uses the same type of profile system. So when you move up a tier later, your Atlas seat moves with you.

How do the four cockpits compare?

Here are the key numbers from the product specs, in plain words.

Hobby: 40 x 40 mm main profile

The Hobby measures 500 x 1270 x 580 mm and suits drivers who move away from a desk or wheel stand. It is our best selling aluminium sim rig, and it is a smart base for an Atlas GT with a belt drive or entry level direct drive wheelbase.

Club: 40 x 80 mm main profile

The Club moves to a 40 x 80 mm profile and a rated braking load of 200 kg at the pedal deck. Its footprint is 500 x 1350 x 620 mm. This is a great match for a growing direct drive setup with an Atlas GT or Formula.

Sport: 40 x 120 mm main profile

The Sport raises the rated braking load to 300 kg and adds integrated cable routing and readiness for motion. It measures 580 x 1320 x 720 mm. With a strong direct drive base and load cell pedals, the Sport keeps an Atlas seat perfectly still.

Pro: 40 x 160 mm main profile

The Pro is the flagship. It uses a 40 x 160 mm profile with heavy duty steel reinforcement at critical mounting points and measures 580 x 1320 x 750 mm. It suits demanding direct drive, braking and motion builds, and it gives the most room when you move pedals and wheel for a Formula position.

Which cockpit fits your plans with the Atlas?

Match the chassis to the way you want to use the seat.

You race mostly GT

A Hobby or Club with an Atlas GT is a balanced setup. You sit upright, the pedals stay low and the frame has enough strength for most wheelbases up to the mid range.

You switch between GT and Formula

Switching means you move the pedal deck up and the wheel down each time. A Sport or Pro gives you longer adjustment and more stiffness in both positions. See how to switch an Atlas seat from GT to Formula.

You add tactile or motion

Bass shakers and motion actuators put extra load on the frame. The Sport and Pro are prepared for motion integration. If you plan tactile feedback, read how to mount a bass shaker on an Atlas seat.

Built by a driver who tested the market

The range was shaped by years of hands on testing.

SIMGASM founder Johan Akkerman raced on a self welded frame, then on a Trak Racer TR8, and later moved to a Simucube 2 wheelbase. Through racing, product events and exhibitions he tested a wide range of cockpits, seats and wheelbases. SIMGASM B.V. was registered on 27 February 2026 and develops its cockpits and seats in Wijk bij Duurstede, the Netherlands. Still unsure? Read the full Atlas seat pros and cons first.

Questions about cockpits for the Atlas seat

These short answers help you choose faster.

Does the Atlas seat come with a cockpit?

No. Seats and cockpits are sold separately, so you combine the Atlas with the chassis that fits your hardware.

Which brackets do I need for my cockpit?

The Atlas uses the SIMGASM seat bracket set, developed for the Atlas range and made for aluminium profile cockpits. Mail hello@simgasm.com if you want the team to confirm your exact combination.

Is the Hobby strong enough for an Atlas Formula?

Yes, for light to mid range hardware. For heavy direct drive and load cell braking in a Formula position, the Sport or Pro gives more reserve.

Can I match the seat colour to my cockpit?

Yes. Atlas GT cushion sets come in red, white, blue and orange, and the cockpits come in many colours and liveries.
