Truck sim wheel settings and mounting guide: ETS2 and ATS comfort, rotation and FFB

Truck sim wheel settings and mounting guide: ETS2 and ATS comfort, rotation and FFB

Truck sims are the perfect “relaxing simulator” — until your wheel settings feel weird, your seating position hurts, or your monitor is too high and your neck hates you. A good truck sim setup is about comfort and realism, not maximum force feedback.

This guide covers wheel rotation, centering force, FFB feel, and the simplest way to build a comfortable SIMGASM rig for ETS2/ATS-style driving.

Wheel rotation: 900° vs 1800°

  • 900°: easier for beginners and smaller desk spaces; still feels truck-like.
  • 1800°: more realistic steering range if your wheelbase supports it; requires more hand movement.

If you feel “lost” in the steering, lower rotation. If you want maximum realism, raise it gradually.

Force feedback goals for trucks

Truck sims benefit from light, informative forces. You want to feel:

  • Self-centering weight
  • Road texture
  • Understeer / front grip loss (subtle)

But you don’t want your wheel to fight you in every manoeuvre. Keep strength moderate and avoid heavy damping.

A great wheel for trucks: larger diameter rims

A larger rim makes slow steering inputs feel natural. If you want a dedicated truck wheel, see Moza TSW truck wheel.

Mounting and ergonomics for long sessions

Truck sims are often longer sessions. Your posture matters more than lap time:

  • Seat comfort: a recline seat like SIMGASM Core Recline seat is ideal for casual and long sessions.
  • Wheel height: slightly lower than a GT race posture, closer to a road-car feel.
  • Pedal angle: comfortable ankle angle; don’t force an aggressive race posture if it hurts.

Monitor placement for trucks

  • Single monitor: keep the centre of the screen near eye level and sit close enough for good visibility.
  • Triples: great for mirrors and cabin awareness.

Monitor mounting options: Apex freestanding single monitor stand or Apex freestanding triple monitor stand.

Recommended SIMGASM gear for this guide

If you are unsure what fits your hardware, SIMGASM support can help you match mounts, bolt patterns and upgrade paths before you buy.

Quality-of-life add-ons

  • mouse tray for menus and map interactions.
  • PC tray to keep cables short and tidy.
  • floor mat to keep everything clean and stable.
