Which monitor stand suits a single sim racing screen?

For a single sim racing screen, an integrated stand suits most racers with a monitor up to a mid size panel, while a freestanding stand suits large screens, TVs and strong direct drive bases. Pick the stand by three things: the VESA pattern on the back of your screen, the strength of your wheelbase and how much floor space you have. With those three answers, the choice becomes simple.

One screen is the most common setup in sim racing. It is easy to set up, cheap to run and works on PC and console. Yet a single screen only feels right when it sits close, low and steady. In this guide you compare the stand types, learn what the specs mean and see which SIMGASM stand fits which rig.

What a single screen stand has to do

A good stand does three jobs at once, and a weak stand fails at least one of them.

Place the screen close and low

The stand must bring the screen close behind the wheelbase, with the in game horizon near eye level. A desk or a wall rarely gets there. Our pillar blog on sim rig monitor placement explains why behind the wheelbase often feels most natural.

Hold the screen still

Force feedback moves the frame. A stand that flexes turns that movement into a shaking image. If you already fight this, read our guide on why your monitor shakes on your sim rig first.

Adjust in every direction

You need height, depth and angle adjustment. Every rig, seat and driver differs, so a fixed bracket almost never ends up in the right spot.

Integrated or freestanding: the main choice

The biggest decision is whether the stand bolts to your rig or stands on its own feet.

Integrated stands

An integrated stand mounts directly to the cockpit frame. It takes no extra floor space and keeps the screen locked to the same geometry as your seat and wheel. That makes it a tidy choice for small rooms. On a stiff aluminium profile frame, it stays calm with most wheelbases. You find the full range under integrated monitor stands.

Freestanding stands

A freestanding stand stands in front of or over the rig, without touching it. Force feedback then never reaches the screen. It also works with a wheel stand, a desk or a different cockpit later. The trade off is a slightly larger footprint and a bit more setup work to line it up.

Core or Apex: what the specs mean

SIMGASM sells two families of single screen stands, and the VESA support is the clearest difference.

VESA 75 and 100 or up to 200

VESA is the hole pattern on the back of your screen. Most gaming monitors use 75 by 75 mm or 100 by 100 mm. The Core stands support exactly those two patterns, which most 24 to 32 inch gaming monitors use. The Apex stands add 200 by 200 mm support, which you often find on large monitors and TVs. If you plan to race on a TV, read using a TV as a sim racing monitor before you choose.

Built from aluminium profile and steel

Both families use strong aluminium profiles combined with steel mounting parts. Height and screen position adjust for accurate alignment. Founder Johan Akkerman leads the design of the full SIMGASM range, from the 3D design and prototype evaluation to quality control and the final inspection of materials and finish.

Ready for triples later

Many racers start with one screen and add two more later. SIMGASM side arm kits convert a single stand into a triple setup, and a top stand adds a fourth screen for telemetry. That means your first stand never becomes a dead end.

Which stand fits which rig?

Match the stand to your wheelbase, your screen and the rig you drive on.

Entry rigs and belt or gear wheels

On a compact rig like the Hobby, with its 40 by 40 mm main profile, the Core Integrated Single stand gives a clean and compact result. It supports the VESA 75 and 100 patterns of most gaming monitors and keeps the setup small enough for a bedroom or office.

Direct drive bases and bigger screens

With a stronger direct drive base, a Club, Sport or Pro frame gives the stand a stiffer base, with main profiles of 40 by 80, 40 by 120 and 40 by 160 mm. Combine that with the Apex Integrated Single for larger monitors. For a heavy TV or a very strong base, the Apex Free Standing Single gives the calmest image. Compare the frames in our aluminium sim racing cockpit range to find the right base.

Buy from a team that tests the whole rig

SIMGASM tests every product as part of a complete simulator, not as a loose part. The company started development in January 2026, is based in Wijk bij Duurstede and ships directly from the Netherlands. Compare all options in our sim racing monitor stand collection.

Q&A

Here are short answers to the questions racers ask most before they buy a single screen stand.

Do I need a monitor stand for one screen?

Yes, if you want the screen close and low behind the wheel. A desk or wall rarely gets it there.

Which VESA size does my monitor use?

Check the back of the screen or the manual. Most gaming monitors use 75 or 100 mm, many TVs 200 mm or more.

Is a freestanding stand better for a single screen?

It isolates best with strong bases and heavy screens. For most monitors, an integrated stand on a stiff rig works well.

Can I upgrade a single stand to triples?

Yes. SIMGASM side arm kits turn a single stand into a triple monitor setup.
