Choose the SIMGASM Club if your wheelbase delivers up to and including 26 Nm and you want a stiff, compact frame for regular racing. Choose the SIMGASM Sport if your wheelbase is above 26 Nm, if you plan motion, or if you want integrated cable passthroughs. The key difference is the main profile: Club uses 40 × 80 mm, Sport uses 40 × 120 mm.
Both are aluminium profile cockpits from the same modular system. So this is not a choice between good and bad. It is a choice between strong enough and extra room for heavy upgrades. Here is how to decide.
What is the difference between the Club and the Sport?
The main profile is the backbone of each cockpit. The Club uses a 40 × 80 mm rail. The Sport moves to 40 × 120 mm. That extra 40 mm of height makes the Sport base even stiffer against bending.
The frames also differ in size. The Club measures 500 × 1350 × 620 mm (width × length × height). The Sport measures 580 × 1320 × 720 mm. So the Sport is 80 mm wider and 100 mm taller, but a little shorter. In a small room, those centimetres count.
At the pedals, the Club has a rated braking load of 200 kg on the pedal deck. The Sport raises that to 300 kg and adds a thicker pedal tray and base structure.

Which extra features does the Sport add?
The Sport is more than a bigger Club. It adds integrated cable passthroughs, so your USB and power cables run inside the frame. It is also motion ready. On top of that, it has a longer shifter arm and a stronger, more adjustable wheel mount.
The Club leaves those features out on purpose. It has no integrated cable holes, and it keeps the frame focused and sensibly priced. You pay for the stronger base and the upgrade room that regular racers actually use.
What about the wheel mount on each model?
On both cockpits, you choose the wheel mount at checkout. The Bottom Mount covers supported underside patterns from Logitech, Fanatec, MOZA, Thrustmaster, SIMAGIC, PXN, Simucube, Asetek and VRS. The Side Mount fits supported Fanatec, MOZA and SIMAGIC models. There is also a regular Front Mount and a dedicated Asetek Front Mount. On the Sport, the wheel mount is stronger and offers more adjustment.
When is the Club the better choice?
The Club is the better choice for most home racers who race several times a week. It suits a direct drive base up to and including 26 Nm, a load cell brake and a shifter or handbrake. The Core side profile shifter and handbrake arm is already included.
It is also the logical step up from the Hobby. Not sure if you even need that step? Read SIMGASM Hobby or Club: which aluminium cockpit fits you. For the brake side of the choice, our guide on how much pedal braking force a sim racing cockpit needs helps.

When should you pick the Sport instead?
Pick the Sport when your wheelbase delivers more than 26 Nm. SIMGASM recommends Sport or Pro above that level, and Pro above 40 Nm. The Sport also makes sense if you plan motion, because it is motion ready from the start.
A clean build is another reason. If you hate loose cables and want them hidden inside the frame, the integrated passthroughs of the Sport help a lot. The same goes for heavy hydraulic pedals or a long shifter setup.

What does the founder race on?
Johan Akkerman, founder, CEO and product designer of SIMGASM, races on a SIMGASM Sport with the Formula Atlas seat, virtual reality and motion. That setup shows what the Sport is built for: a heavy, motion ready build. For many racers without motion, the Club already does the job.
Johan has raced since 2008, won the 2019 Project CARS 2 world team championship and later raced in real series such as the DNRT BMW E30 Cup. He designed the Hobby, Club, Sport and Pro concepts from that mix of sim and real racing.

Club or Sport: a quick decision guide
Take the Club if your wheelbase stays at or below 26 Nm, you have no motion plans and you like a compact frame. Take the Sport if you go above 26 Nm, want motion, or want hidden cables and a stronger wheel mount.
Still in doubt? Buy for the hardware you plan to own in the next two years, not only for today. You find every colour and livery in the Club sim racing cockpits collection, and the Sport next to it in the full sim racing cockpit range.
