Romain Monti wins the Alpine Elf Cup 2026 title

jRomain Monti and Rodolphe Wallgren are the 2026 champions of the Alpine Elf Cup Series. The duo sealed the title at the season finale on Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet on 10 and 11 October 2026. They raced the number 111 Alpine A110 Cup for Chazel Technologie Course all season long.

For us at SIMGASM, this one feels personal. Our logo is on the car and on the race suit. Below you read how the season unfolded, why this title means so much and what real racing teaches us about building better simulators.

Champions of the Alpine Elf Cup Series 2026

The 2026 season was a fight from the first race to the very last weekend.

A strong start at Nogaro

The season opened in April at Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro. Monti and Wallgren won the first Alpine Elf Cup race of the year. It was a clear signal to the rest of the grid. The number 111 car had the pace to fight for the title.

A finish decided by 0.085 seconds in Dijon

At Dijon Prenois the gaps were tiny. Paul Alberto chased Romain Monti all the way to the line in a dramatic final lap. Monti held on and won by just 0.085 seconds. Wins like that often decide a championship at the end of the year.

Taking control at Magny-Cours

Magny-Cours was the penultimate round. After a tough first race, Monti and Wallgren bounced back and won race two. They left France with a lead of 31 points over their teammates Paul Alberto and Gosia Rdest. Chazel Technologie Course also secured the team title that weekend.

Sealing the title at Le Castellet

The final round on Circuit Paul Ricard closed the season. Monti and Wallgren arrived as leaders and left as champions. The car now carries a champion 2026 badge on its rear window, and the whole team celebrated in the pit lane.

Who are Romain Monti and Rodolphe Wallgren?

Romain Monti brings the outright speed, while Rodolphe Wallgren brings years of GT racing experience.

Romain Monti

Romain Monti is a French driver who knows the Alpine A110 Cup inside out. He finished third overall in the Alpine Elf Cup Series in 2025. In 2026 he turned that speed into a title.

Rodolphe Wallgren

Rodolphe Wallgren brings a lot of experience to the car. He won the French FFSA GT championship in the Am class in 2018 and in the Pro Am class in 2024. Together, the two drivers formed one of the most consistent crews on the grid.

What made the 2026 season so different?

The Alpine Elf Cup Series changed a lot in 2026.

Two drivers, one car

Every car now has two drivers. Races last one hour and include a mandatory pit stop with a driver change. That means teamwork and a clean handover count just as much as raw speed.

Racing in traffic

The series shared the track with the FFSA GT French championship. Faster GT4 cars from other classes came past during the race. Drivers had to stay calm, pick their moments and avoid mistakes in traffic.

Identical cars

All teams race the same Alpine A110 Cup. The car uses a 1.8 litre turbocharged engine and very few changes are allowed. So the driver and the team make the difference, not the budget.

Why SIMGASM supports real world racing

Real racing and sim racing have more in common than many people think.

Racing runs in our team

Our founder and CEO Johan Akkerman raced in the Alpine Elf Cup himself. In his first season he scored an overall podium at Zandvoort and several Challenger class wins, including a double class win at Spa-Francorchamps. He also won the DNRT BMW E30 Cup and Endurance Series titles in 2023 and 2024. So we know how hard it is to win in this series.

Lessons from the track

Time in a real race car shapes how we design our products. A driver needs a stable seating position, controls within easy reach and comfort over a long stint. One hour races with driver changes show that very clearly. We build those same lessons into every aluminium sim racing rig we make.

Your colours, your identity

A race car tells a story with its livery and its partners. Your simulator can do the same. Romain's own SIMGASM simulator is a good example. It has a RothBros inspired livery that matches his race car, and we showed it to the public for the first time at Spa-Francorchamps. In our guide on choosing a SIMGASM Club colour or livery you find ideas for a look that feels like yours. And if you race online with your own partners, read how your cockpit can help you attract sponsors.

A proud moment for the SIMGASM family

Seeing our logo on a championship winning car is a special feeling.

SIMGASM started with a clear goal: give every racer access to strong, personal simulator equipment. Supporting drivers like Romain Monti fits that goal. Congratulations to Romain, Rodolphe and everyone at Chazel Technologie Course on a brilliant season. We cannot wait to see what comes next.
