World-scale controls let you adjust the perceived scale of the virtual environment. This can help the virtual cockpit feel more natural in relation to your body and controls. It does not change the real position of your wheel or pedals, so physical adjustment still comes first.

Set the physical cockpit before changing the VR settings

It is easy to begin with graphics settings because they are visible in a menu. A better order is to set your body position first. Set the pedals so you can use their full travel without locking your knees or pulling your hips away from the seat. If you use a firm brake pedal, check that the cockpit and seat remain in the same position when you apply your normal braking force. A stable pedal position helps you repeat the same input while your view is fully inside VR.

Next, move the wheel to a comfortable height and distance. You should be able to steer through the range you need while keeping your shoulders relaxed and your elbows slightly bent. Also check the clearance between your hands, knees and the bottom of the steering wheel.

Do not copy a fixed measurement from another driver without testing it. Body dimensions, seats, steering wheels and pedal sets differ. The correct position is the one that keeps your main controls easy to reach and consistent throughout a session.

Align the real controls with the virtual driving position

VR gives you a strong sense of being inside the car. That also makes a poor match between real and virtual controls easier to notice. Once your physical cockpit feels right, enter the car and compare the virtual steering wheel position with the location of your real wheel.

Plan the headset cable before it becomes a problem

Leave enough controlled slack for normal head movement, but avoid a loose loop that can fall into the cockpit. Guide the cable behind or above the seating area where practical, and support it so the connector does not carry the full load. Test looking left, right, up and down before driving.

Keep power supplies, USB connections and extension points organised and accessible. Do not trap cables under a seat slider, profile bracket or pedal plate. Pixel density has a clear trade-off: more image detail can require more performance. Foveated rendering is designed to recover performance by focusing rendering effort, while the eye-tracked variant depends on supported hardware. Test these options instead of assuming that every higher or newer setting must be enabled.

Use world scale to refine the perceived size of the cabin after your real wheel and seating position are correct. If you also race on a monitor, keep the VR work inside the dedicated VR profile so your flat-screen setup remains independent.

The “prefer FPS over latency” mode gives you another official tuning choice. Its name describes the priority, not a guaranteed improvement for every player. Compare it with the alternative on your own system and choose the result that feels most stable and comfortable to you.

Hobby: a compact cockpit for an efficient VR setup

A VR system does not require a large monitor structure in front of the driver. This can make a compact cockpit especially attractive in a shared room, office or bedroom.

Compared with Club, Sport uses thicker base profiles and a thicker pedal tray. It also has a stronger, more adjustable wheel mount with thicker side plates. A longer shifter arm creates more room for add-ons, while integrated cable slots help organise a more complex installation.

Those details matter in VR because many controls must be easy to find without looking at them. Extra mounting room can support a logical layout for a shifter, handbrake or other confirmed accessories. The cable slots can also help keep the headset and control cables away from moving parts.

Sport is the more logical choice when your build will grow, when you use powerful controls regularly, or when you want more adjustment for GT and Formula-style positions. Under the SIMGASM wheelbase guideline, Sport or Pro should be selected above 26 Nm, while Pro is the recommended model above 40 Nm.

Build an upgrade path instead of replacing the whole setup

A useful VR cockpit starts with four stable elements: seat, pedals, wheel and cable route. Build these first. Add accessories only when you know where your hands can reach them while wearing the headset.

If your current equipment is modest but you expect to upgrade soon, consider the future load and number of accessories before selecting the frame. Hobby keeps the build compact and cost-conscious. Sport provides more mechanical and mounting headroom for a setup that may become stronger or more complex.
