Which Core seat suits a SIMGASM Hobby cockpit?

Both Core seats fit the SIMGASM Hobby cockpit. Choose the Core Bucket Racing Seat if you want a fixed, sporty driving position and a seat that folds compact for storage. Choose the Core Recline Seat if you share the rig, switch between games or want an adjustable backrest. For both seats, add the SIMGASM Dual Locking Seat Slider Set so you move the seat forward and back.

For many drivers, the Hobby is their first real aluminium sim rig. Because the seat is not included, this choice matters. Here is how to pick the right one.

What the Hobby cockpit brings to the table

Before you pick a seat, it helps to know the frame it sits on.

The Hobby uses a 40 x 40 mm aluminium main profile and measures 500 x 1270 x 580 mm (W x L x H). Its rated braking load at the pedal deck is 150 kg, and SIMGASM rates it for direct drive bases up to and including 16 Nm. In the box you get the profiles, brackets, your chosen wheel mount, tools, gloves, an assembly guide and the Core side profile arm for a shifter or handbrake. The seat, slider, wheelbase and pedals come separately. A full build takes about two hours with the tools in the box.

Not sure if the Hobby is enough for you? Compare it in SIMGASM Hobby or Club: which aluminium cockpit fits you.

Core Bucket on the Hobby

The Core Bucket turns the Hobby into a focused, race style simulator.

How it feels

Its backrest locks at one fixed driving angle. A steel frame and pronounced side bolsters hold you in place when you brake late or catch a slide. That gives you the same position every session, which helps you build consistent lap times.

How it mounts

The seat has an integrated 360 x 385 mm bolt pattern underneath for a bottom mount. Combine it with the SIMGASM slider for fore and aft adjustment. Want to understand bolt patterns better? Read which mounting hole spacing a sim racing seat needs.

Why it suits a small room

The folding mechanism collapses the seat into a compact, near vertical position for storage. On a compact cockpit like the Hobby, that saves real space when you are not racing.

Core Recline on the Hobby

The Core Recline makes the Hobby more flexible and more comfortable for long, relaxed sessions.

The backrest moves from near vertical to a relaxed angle, so you set an upright position for rally and a more laid back position for GT. The leather and suede cover feels premium. A 193 x 193 mm pattern underneath also fits standard office chair mechanisms, and with the SIMGASM Office Chair Base the seat later moves to your desk. That makes it a smart first seat when you already think about an upgrade one day.

Which one should you choose?

Your driving style and your household decide more than the spec sheet.

Pick the Core Bucket when you race alone, drive competitive online races and want a compact rig. Pick the Core Recline when family members or friends use the simulator too, or when you like to switch between disciplines. Both seats belong to the Core sim racing seat range and carry the standard 2 year SIMGASM warranty.

Check your room as well. With the seat at the back of its slider, the Hobby needs a bit more length than the frame itself. Our guide on how much space you need for a sim racing cockpit helps you measure.

SIMGASM dual locking seat slider set in black

Why the slider matters on a Hobby

The slider is the link between your seat and the aluminium frame.

The SIMGASM Dual Locking Seat Slider Set has four welded mounting nuts, so you do not have to hold loose nuts inside the narrow rails while you tighten the bolts. Its reinforced construction and locks on both rails keep the seat solid under heavy braking. It is compatible with all SIMGASM chassis and keeps universal mounting options for other seats.

Johan Akkerman, founder and CEO of SIMGASM, started sim racing in 2008 and once welded his own frame from used gas pipes with a seat from a scrapyard. That is why the Hobby and the Core seats focus on what a first real rig needs: strong, affordable and built to last for years. You find every colour, including Black, Purple, Red, White and the MARINI livery, in the Hobby sim racing cockpit collection. When you outgrow the Core seat later, read when to upgrade from a Core to an Atlas seat.

Questions about Core seats on the Hobby cockpit

Here are short answers for first time Hobby owners.

Is a seat included with the Hobby cockpit?

No. The Hobby comes without a seat and without a slider, so you choose the seat that suits you.

Do I need a slider for a Core seat on the Hobby?

For fore and aft adjustment, yes. The SIMGASM Dual Locking Seat Slider Set is the preferred choice on a SIMGASM cockpit.

Can I fit an Atlas seat on the Hobby later?

Yes. The Atlas uses the SIMGASM Seat Bracket Set for its side mount.

Which Core seat is best for a small room?

The Core Bucket, because it folds into a compact, near vertical position for storage.
