Asetek iRacing settings: wheel force, Auto FFB and a repeatable workflow

Asetek iRacing settings: wheel force, Auto FFB and a repeatable workflow

Asetek iRacing settings: wheel force, Auto FFB and a repeatable workflow

iRacing is one of the best sims for direct drive because the force feedback is “physics-first”. That also means your settings matter: if you clip, you lose tyre detail; if you add too much damping to calm things down, you can hide the information that makes iRacing so good.

This guide is a practical iRacing setup workflow for Asetek wheelbases, designed to be repeatable across cars.

Step 1: pick your wheelbase and mount it properly

Start with the wheelbase you have on SIMGASM:

Then make sure the base is mounted rigidly. For a fast, clean path: SIMGASM Wheelmount base set → Asetek front wheelmount bracket.

A stable cockpit matters because iRacing gives you subtle steering cues at the limit. If your wheel deck moves, those cues turn into “noise”. For most Asetek builds: SIMGASM Sport rig (or SIMGASM Pro rig if you want maximum stiffness and future motion readiness).

Step 2: set iRacing “wheel force” correctly

In iRacing, the wheel force value should match your wheelbase’s maximum torque. This helps Auto FFB work as intended.

Asetek wheelbase Set iRacing wheel force to
La Prima 12 Nm
Forte 18 Nm
Invicta 27 Nm

Then calibrate your wheel and pedals once in the iRacing controls menu.

Step 3: use Auto FFB per car (then sanity check it)

Once you’re on track, open the FFB black box and click Auto after a few corners. iRacing will set a per-car strength target. Now do a quick test:

  • hit a kerb hard and check if the wheel “flatlines” (clipping),
  • drive a long corner at the limit and see if you still feel tyre loading changes.

If you clip often, reduce the in-game strength slightly. If everything feels weak, increase strength carefully and re-check clipping. For the deeper method, follow: How to avoid force feedback clipping (workflow).

Step 4: build two profiles for sprint and endurance

The best way to stay consistent is not to change everything for every car. Create two “feel” profiles:

  • Sprint: slightly stronger, slightly more lively
  • Endurance: slightly calmer, less fatigue, more predictable over bumps

Use the same cockpit position every time. That’s why we recommend setting your seat and heel support properly. Add SIMGASM heelrest and a stable seat (comfort: Core Recline seat; race posture: Atlas GT seat).

Step 5: don’t ignore your monitors

With iRacing, your eyes do a lot of the work. If your screens shake when you steer or brake, your brain reads it as “instability”. A freestanding stand like Apex freestanding triple monitor stand keeps your reference stable and makes the car feel calmer even at the same FFB.

If you’re preparing for longer races, use our Asetek endurance profile guide to reduce fatigue without losing detail.
